College of Arts Won Prizes on the 9th National Higher Art College Opera Vocal Performance

From July 16th to July 19th, the 9th National Higher Art College Opera Vocal Performance was held in Qingdao Grand Theatre. The teachers and students from the Music Department of College of Arts participated in the competition and won prizes.

 

Knowing that opera was the most important part among all performances, the teachers and students carefully selected the opera performance content according to the competition requirements. The quartet Since I saw you that day of the opera Rigoletto won the Excellence Award of opera segment, with the cooperation of Wang Rui and Yi Guofeng, teachers from College of Arts; Zheng Lin, mezzo-soprano from Ocean University of China and Zhang Xi, baritone from Qingdao Opera Theatre. Besides, under the guidance of Mr. Yin Guofeng, Peng Yu, Chen Xiaoyu and Zhang Peng, students from College of Arts, also won the prize (Ju Song of the opera Qu Yuan). The student Guo Chunzhao, guided by Mr. Zhang Nan, entered the final contest of Chinese works group with the soprano classic Gu Yuan Lian. Finally he won the Excellence Award in the final with the song Huang He Yuan.

 

As reported, bathing the breeze of the 2019 Qingdao international fashion season, the 9th National Higher Art College Opera Vocal Performance represented one of the twelve greatest theme activities. It was hosted by International Association of Opera Education, Vocal Music and Opera Performance Organizing Committee of National Higher Art Colleges and Qingdao Grand Theatre, and fully supported by Publicity Department of Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. Guided by the thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by general secretary Xi, the performance took the ultimate goal of making unremitting efforts to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In this context, the aim of the performance is to improve the teaching level of operas and vocal music in Chinese universities, then cultivate and tap more outstanding young talents. Being tracing back to 2007, National Higher Art College Opera Vocal Performance has become a national brand academic activity involving many national art colleges It is held regularly every year.  with highly professional level outweighing many a professional music competition.

 

What behind the honor was the hard work of teachers and students of the music department. It was said that to earn a good result, the teachers and students who participated in the competition did a lot of preparation before the competition, and they rehearsed with their teammates with much time and efforts after many times of independent practice to overcome difficulties. After the competition, Peng Kun, a music major in class 1601, said with gratitude:“The part we chose was difficult, but we finally made it through repeated practice. Id like to deliver my appreciation, especially, for my teachers and my dear teammates” “In the contest, they achieved good results through efforts under the guidance of tutors. We hope them to continue to work hard and achieve even better in the future. ”Wang Rui, head of the vocal music teaching and research section, sent his sincere blessings for students.

 

The core of this competition was opera performance, but it was very complex. What we needed was corporation instead of working alone. Besides,tacit cooperation, good music culture, sound clarity and accuracy were also salient factors.” Yin Guofeng said after the competition, “The teachers and students overcame the difficulties and got good results. I hoped we could achieve better results in the future.”

 

The competition intensively reflected the sophisticated singing ability and comprehensive music quality of young teachers of College of Arts. The college encourages teachers and students to actively participate in high-level art competitions, which will play a positive role in promoting music teaching and training more high-quality talents.
