Foreign Academician Learning to Draw Chinese Ink Painting

     According to the report of Law and News magazine, Peter V. Nielsen, an academician from the Danish Academy of Engineering, paid a visit to the Department of Fine Arts of China University of Petroleum on March 26, for an academic exchange on Chinese ink painting with Wang Chengbao, Sun Feng and other fine art teachers.

A renowned expert in the field of indoor air Prof. Nelson is, he has been enamored by traditional Chinese art for long time. He has collected a lot of traditional Chinese art works, and from time to time engaged himself in drawing Chinese paintings.

On his journey for academic exchanges in the research field, Prof. Nelson took the initiative to conduct exchanges on Chinese art and culture whenever he had the opportunity. He and teachers from the Fine Arts Department of our college enjoyably appreciated the masterpieces of Chinese ink paintings such as A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains, Lo River Map, Painting of Han Xi-zai s Evening Banquet.

And they also exchanged their views on the evolution, works and techniques of Chinese ink painting. In their elation, they drew their own paintings on the spot by following the style of masterpieces. Peter V. Nielsen depicted vivid bamboos and tulips with great enthusiasm and patience, and then exchanged them with the fine works created by teacher Wang Chengbao.
