The 2019 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development (ISCES) and the Asia-Pacific Green Campus Alliance (ASCN) have been held in Shanghai. Students from College of Arts, Bai Yuqi, Zhang Yao, Wang Yupeng and Gao Fan, participated in the activities and won prizes including two Best Speech Awards, two Excellent Student Activity Awards and a Best Poster Award in these two conferences respectively.
Organized by the United Nations Environment Programme and hosted by Xinhua News Agency, Tongji University and the Beijing Green Future Environment Foundation, the 2019 ISCES, themed with “Beat Air——the Battle for the Blue Sky”, attracted more than 300 young students from over 50 countries and regions around the world .
The Asia-Pacific Green Campus Alliance (ASCN), jointly-initiated by CGUN, KAGCI, CAS-NET Japan and SUNThailand, is committed to international exchange and cooperation of green campus achievements in the Asia-Pacific region and is hosted by the rotating presidency every year. China University of Petroleum (Huadong) is the standing executive member of China Green University Alliance.
On the conference, the representatives of UPC displayed the achievement in building a green campus respectively on the topics of “Glorees——We are on the way” and “Blue Carbon Action in China”. We also conducted exchanges with representatives from Tongji University, Chiba University of Japan and other famous colleges at home and abroad. As all experts spoke highly of our performance, we won two Excellent Student Activity Awards.
In recent years, UPC has made great efforts in green campus construction. Consequently, we could see that the resources are well-preserved to the utmost extent, the environment protected and the pollution reduced through the establishment of the platforms governing the energy-saving process and controlling the energy-consumption of heating system. Some energy-saving programs with high-efficiency have also been introduced and applied to that end. Meanwhile, UPC has pushed forward the cultural education focusing on fostering talents on an eco-friendly basis. Great efforts have been made to boost the green practices, green explorations as well as the energy-saving techniques for a safe, green and healthy environment for teaching and living.
