Teachers of College of Arts Participated in the 5th Academic Forum of Innovation Foreign Language Education in China

The 5th academic forum, named Innovation of Foreign Language Education in China was successfully held in Beijing from May 11th to 12th this year. This forum was cosponsored by National Research Center of Foreign Language Education of BFCU (Beijing Foreign Studies University) and FLTRP (Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press). Many English teachers in our college jointed this meeting and read thesis abstract.

  

  With Diane Larsen-Freeman and other domestic and overseas experts and many first-class teachers, this session analyzed and exchanged ideas about the new exploration of POA in the systems of theories, teaching practices and research paradigms in dialogue. POA (Production-oriented Approach, POA for short), established by the team of Professor Wen Qiufang, is a foreign language teaching theory with Chinese characteristics to improve our national foreign language education in colleges and universities. This theory has exerted widespread impact on the fields of foreign language teaching at home and abroad. With unrelenting efforts, POA teams have made new achievements in theoretical construction, teaching practice and related research.   

 

This forum agenda included keynote speech, featured speech, experts dialogue and thesis announcement and involved three main contents: 1 Team Presentation: the team of Professor Qiufang Wen gave a general introduction about POA theory construction, practical application and research paradigm. 2 Experts Dialogue: experts at home and abroad made analyses about POA theory construction, practical application and research paradigm. 3 Thesis Announcement: foreign language teachers in colleges and universities communicated the practical application in different courses. This subjects mainly consisted of several parts as follows: the validity research of POA in foreign language teaching; POA-driven design and research; POA-facilitated design and research; teachers and students cooperated evaluation research on POA; the use of POA textbook and teaching research; teacher’s development research among POA teaching.

 

This Academic Forum has been held once a year in domestic and overseas respectively since 2017. Many foreign language experts made active and thorough commutations in POA theory construction and its application of English and international Chinese teaching, facilitating the reform of our national foreign language and the innovation of teaching theory under the internationalized background.
